Our Mission

It is the mission of ROCKWELL DANCE CENTER

to provide each student with a creative and inspiring dance education. We feel it is imperative that every dancer be given a strong technical foundation by utilizing proper terminology, training and anatomical understanding.  RDC encourages artistry in a supportive and nurturing environment; we believe in recognizing and appreciating the individual strengths of each dancer.  Our goal is to offer varied performance opportunities while giving back and sharing with our community.

Our Space

Our state of the art performance center, located in Trumbull, Connecticut, has 12,150 square feet of space. It is comprised of 5 dance studios (all with sprung flooring and professional audio systems), 4 music/voice studios, a black box theater, 2 lounges, kitchen and homework area, company lounge, girls and boys changing rooms and a professional costume shop – all in one convenient location with easy access to I-95, the 25 Connector, Merritt Parkway, Route 8 – a quick and easy commute from almost anywhere in Fairfield county and New Haven county. We are just minutes from the Trumbull Mall, and located just across the street are Planet Fitness, Tennis, Gymnastics and a Sports Center.

Our Doors Are Open

We invite you to stop by any time for a tour of our facility, a placement evaluation or a FREE class. Registration is ongoing until classes are filled. Classes will be added as needed and as registration increases.

Costume Shop

Our Costume Shop is a professional 1,000 square feet of beautiful, organized state of the art space.  RDC spends thousands of dollars to increase our inventory of costumes from hip hop to jazz and modern to classical ballet. The generosity of our students adds greatly to the scope of costumes that fill our shop. We have invested in commercial sewing machines, tables, shelving system, racks and computers for inventory (every item in our costume room is photographed and logged into our system).

These costumes are used for our dance companies, performances and ballets to lessen the costs for the dancers and their families. It isn’t just economics that made the idea of having a professional level costume shop for our dance studio seem the way to go, but the need to be ecological in recycling costumes that cost dollars and shouldn’t just be thrown away or stored in the attic that made sense to us. Being green saves green $ too! It felt like an obvious choice – something that would benefit everyone.

Our Costume Shoppe is managed by RDC and run by volunteers – parents who are giving back to RDC, our students and their community. Without all of them this would not be possible and we are grateful that they share their time and talents with the RDC community. We welcome you to stop by and take a look around at one more thing that makes RDC a great studio.

RDC’s Like New Program

“Like New”  is a shop for the recycling of gently used dance shoes and clothing available to all RDC students to help us all ecologically and economically. Students and Parents are encouraged to donate their dance shoes (in good shape) and dance clothing (freshly laundered) to “Like New” located in RDC’s Costume Shop. It is our goal to make a dance education more affordable to all our students.
